Dilip Kumar’s death on Wednesday stunned and devastated the entire Indian film industry. The great actor, who died at the age of 98, left behind a void in cinema as well as a great body of work for future filmmakers and actors to learn from. On Wednesday evening, the actor was laid to rest with full state honors at Mumbai’s Juhu Qabarastan.

The sad news of Dilip Kumar’s Death was confirmed by his family friend Faisal Farooqui on the legendary actor’s official Twitter handle. Dr. Faisal tweeted: With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him, we return. – Faisal Farooqui
Earlier on Monday, the actor’s wife, actress Saira Banu Khan, put out a statement regarding his condition. “We are grateful for God’s infinite mercy on Dilip Sahib that his health is improving. We are still in hospital and request your prayers and duas so that Insha’Allah he is healthy and discharged soon. Saira Banu Khan.”

With classics like “Mughal-e-Azam,” “Devdas,” “Naya Daur,” and “Ram Aur Shyam,” Dilip Kumar’s career spans five decades. His most recent performance on the big screen was in the 1998 picture “Qila.”
He shared the record for the most Filmfare Awards in the Best Actor category with “king khan” Shah Rukh Khan: eight. In 1954, he took home the inaugural prize in the same category.
Saira Banu expressed gratitude to the government for honouring Dilip Kumar’s wishes for a state funeral.

Global star Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram to pen her thoughts on the demise of veteran actor Dilip Kumar. Priyanka wrote in Hindi and shared a few photos of the thespian.
She started her note with a quote from Dilip Kumar’s film Saudagar and wrote that the icon lived his life with his head held high. She wrote, “‘You don’t claim your place with your head… but you do it with your head held high.’ – Saudagar. Yusuf Sa’ab lived his life with his head held high.”
