Jay Chaudhary Is One Of America’s Top 10 Billionaires

Jay Chaudhry, a resident of Panoh village in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district, was listed among the top ten Indian billionaires in the United States on Wednesday.

Jay Chaudhry is the founder and CEO of Zscaler, a cybersecurity company he started in 2008. It went public in March of this year. He owns 45 percent of the Nasdaq-listed company with his family. Chaudhry formed four other software companies before Zscaler, all of which were acquired: SecureIT, CoreHarbor, CipherTrust, and AirDefense.Chaudhry and his wife, Jyoti, both quit their jobs and invested their life savings in his first startup, SecureIT, in 1996.

Until he was in the eighth and tenth grades, his birthplace, a village in India’s Himalayas, lacked electricity and drinking water. Chaudhry came to the United States in 1980 to pursue graduate studies and now resides in the Bay Area.

Daljeet Chaudhary, Jay’s older brother and former principal of a government school in Una, is proud of his brother’s accomplishments. Daljeet told the media that Jay was a hardworking student who never gave up despite facing many challenges in life. He said that his hard work had paid off.

According to Forbes, as of 2 March 2021, Chaudhry’s real-time net worth stood at $11.5 billion. According to The Forbes 400, he ranked at number 85.

Zscaler was founded by Chaudhry in 2008, and the company went public in 2018. Chaudhry’s firm, which specializes in facilitating safe digital transition by rethinking conventional network security, experienced an exponential increase as the world adapted to the work-from-home paradigm.

Zscaler has over 2,600 staff and offers security as a service to leading tech firms such as Microsoft, Siemens, CrowdStrike, and AWS, among others. It has over 5,000 customers, with a fifth being from the Global 2000.

Chaudhry had previously said, “I used to walk nearly 4 km every day to attend my high school at Dhusara, the neighboring village,” 

“So far, my success has been mostly due to my lack of financial attachment. My obsession is to make the internet and cloud a secure environment for all to do business “Chaudhry, the brains behind top companies like AirDefense, CipherTrust, CoreHarbor, and Secure IT,  said Chaudhry.
